My name is Gerald Gore and I would like to personally welcome you to Polymer Clay Fan. The Polymer Clay Fan website is a collection of a few of the sculptures that I have created. Some of the sculptures on this site have been put into production while the majority of them are here for your viewing pleasure. I have also included some fun links to a few of my pumpkin carvings, pictures of projects that I am working on, and a sculpting demo section. My sculpting background

In November 2003 I had a life changing accident, I accidentally discovered sculpting. My wife, Karen, was taking a ceramic painting class and I asked if she would bring home some clay for me to play with. I took art back when I was in high school so I thought it would be neat to try some sculpting. However, the majority of my art experience by that time had been with drawing and painting. My previous sculpting experience included making an ashtray in the fifth grade (which looked like a third grader made it) and a armless torso in high school - hey what can I say, I couldn’t figure out how to make the arms :-).

In all honestly I was scared to death that I would not be able to sculpt. I pretty much sat the box of clay in the corner of the house and hoped that it would figure out how to sculpt itself. Well after letting the clay sit around the house for a few weeks I decided to give it a try. I had a blast! My daughter, who was four at the time, and I made a complete mess in the house but it was worth it (although my wife may disagree). Within three days I created my first sculpture, became hooked and have been sculpting ever since.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to teach myself how to sculpt. I have also found the internet to be a wonderful resource for learning all types of sculpting styles and techniques. Personally I have found that sculpting is a wonderful form of art that teaches me something new every day. Art has always been a rewarding love in my life; it can be relaxing, challenging and stimulating all in the same moment.

I highly recommend that everyone should try to learn some type of craft, whether it be sculpting, painting, drawing or something that you just make up. I have found that when you share art with the ones that you love it can be a very bonding and rewarding experience. No matter what artistic form you choose to tackle, go out, have fun and broaden you imagination.

All the best,
Gerald Gore

I am looking for ideas to create a receptacle using polymer clay. I create handmade jewellery and I would like to incorporate them into my work.

As a green effort, I am also working on a blog to highlight what waste material can be used in pursuit of art with the bonus of making a living out of it. Example, can I use polymer clay to decorate empty glass bottle to reduce waste or littering the environment?

I am sure once I have an idea, I will have the useful information you have on your website linked to my blog to provide free tips and tutorial.

    Hi Nancy,

There is a book called Liquid Polymer Clay by Ann and Karen Mitchell that has some great examples of using liquid polymer clay on various glasses, boxes, picture frames and jars. There is a link to the book on my Polymer Clay Books (http://www.polymerclayfan.com/polymer-clay-books).

I have a copy of the book and I think the authors have done a good job with the tutorials.

    Best of luck to you,

    Gerald

Hello I was just writing to tell you that your work is beautiful. You are a very talented person. I was wondering however if all the work you have done is shown and if not is there a chance you could show more?

    Hi Shannon,

Thank you for the compliments on my artwork. This website only shows a
fraction of the artwork that I have created. I’ll look into putting
together a gallery page in the near future that shows the sculptures I have
created over the last few years.

    Thanks again,

    Gerald Gore

Gerald, I have been struggling for years on how to repair a polmer clay break after it has been baked…..THANK you so much for explaining so clearly how to fix it with the vaseline. It works beautifully!! Question: Some people scrape and/or sand their pieces after they are baked to smooth and get the grime off…..do you do that or does the alcohol serve that purpose? Also, Does mulptiple baking change the color each time and what do you do about moonies?….just a couple of questions:)Thanks, Jennifer
